good shepherd: done and done

I finished up my room at the Good Shepherd shelter yesterday and I am so glad to be done! It was a fun project and I am very happy with how the room turned out. I didn't get to meet the woman that will be moving in, but I hope the space makes her feels happy and comfortable. Unfortunately, I won't be revealing the photos of the room until later in July because the project managers are making some big PR pushes. I will leave you with some itty bitty sneak peeks. Thank you to all the the vendors, friends and family that donated their product, time or money. Couldn't have done it without you all! You can also check out my interview about the project on the Good Shepherd project blog here.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

so long, farewell

I can hardly believe it...only one more show of Oprah left! Seems unreal that I will no longer be having afternoon cry sessions and daily 'AHA!' moments and calling up friends and saying "Did you see so and so on the Oprah show?!". Unreal. I know Ms. Winfrey isn't 'done', but I will really miss my afternoons with her. Gonna make a Target for some tissue after work for the finale. Cry-Fest 2011 is about to happen!

good shepherd: a little help

I'm getting close to completing my room at Good Shepherd Shelter, but still a little ways to go. Luckily, I had the help of a certain 6 year old, my sissy and my BF (aka my electrician). We were building furniture and installing lighting like nobody's business. Everyone walked away with all fingers intact and no one got electrocuted so it was a pretty good day! A few more sneak peeks to come...am excited to see this room come together!

Reading all instructions before starting is very important.

My BF just hit his head on the sprinkler and I'm cracking up as I take photos of his pain. That's love...

A very big THANK YOU to Lamps Plus for their donations of lighting and furniture. I'll be featuring their items soon as the project gets closer to completion!

tissue paper lanterns

I am in love with these tissue paper lanterns! Serioulsy, I almost fell over when I saw these. Not only are they totally darling they are super easy to make. You can purchase pre-cut circle tissue paper and all you do is tape them around round paper lanterns. Now that's what I consider my kind of craft. This project is in the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living...thanks Martha!
